Bryan has always wanted to be a showman! While having always performed for fun as a kid, his first serious theatre training was in an intensive performing arts program in his High School called PACE. Bryan attended Haverford College where he was involved in several student-run theatre groups in which he both performed and directed. It was in a production of Fiddler on the Roof where he met his future wife, Johanna, and they have shared their love of theatre ever since. Also while in college Bryan did an internship at the esteemed Hedgerow Theatre in Pennsylvania.
After graduating from college with a B.A. in History, Bryan went to Boston University and received a Masters Degree in Education. It was in Boston where he discovered the joys of community theatre. Working with groups such as the Newton Country Players, TCAN Players, and Bay Colony Productions, Bryan performed in several productions. But it was as a Director that he began to make his mark, directing well-received productions of Forever Plaid, Baby and an award-winning production of Captains Courageous, the Musical. Bryan’s Captains was performed two different times “on tour” in Gloucester, MA and received several awards including Best Production at the 2003 EMACT Theatre Festival, one of the country’s oldest and biggest community theatre festivals. It was also honored as the 2003 Moss Hart award winner by NETC for outstanding overall production. Captains was selected to be the lone United States representative at the 2005 Theatre du Mondial, an international community theatre festival held every four years in Monaco.
At the Winnipesaukee Playhouse Bryan has directed productions on all levels including You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown (youth), How the West Was Fun (teen), Fools and Our Town (community) and The Star-Spangled Girl (professional). Bryan also writes, directs and performs in The Playhouse's original summer children's musicals. Past series include the audience-acclaimed Professor N.E. Mull's Animal Adventures and Papa Gander's Twisted Tales. For summer 2006 Bryan will bring to life The RecyclaBulls, four environmentally themed musicals for calves, um... kids!
Bryan and Johanna live in Meredith with their daughters Jaydie and Janney.
