Johanna Halperin has had a passion for theatre since she was five years old. She grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York where she appeared in as many school and community theatre productions as she could fit into her schedule. At Bryn Mawr College she earned a degree in biology, but continued her involvement in the performing arts. It was on the college stage that she met her husband, Bryan, who shared her love of theatre. After college it was off to Boston for graduate school where she earned a Ph.D. in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution. Her thesis work concerned kin recognition and social interactions of New England bat species, and she became a biology professor. Johanna loved teaching, but she was still batty about theatre and soon became the Vice President of the Newton Country Players, a long-standing community theatre. After taking a break from teaching to stay home with her first daughter, she returned to work, and combined her teaching skills with her interest in theatre. Johanna became an instructor at Camp Kaleidoscope, a theatre and arts camp for children featured on 60 Minutes. Johanna produced several award-winning productions in the Boston area with her husband, and decided she could blend her family and professional passions together in the family business. She is excited to raise her family in the Lakes Region and bring theatre education and performing arts to the area.
